Comparing Italian Furniture Procurement Services

Choose who will buy, supply and coordinate the furniture for your home.

A quotation can tell you the price of the furniture and still leave you unsure who will bring it into your home. Put the proposals beside the same list of pieces and the same delivery address. What does each include, and which decisions still need your approval?

Establish who buys or supplies the pieces, how the operator is paid, and who is responsible for delivery, customs, insurance and installation. Those responsibilities should be clear before you compare the final figures.

This is an editorial selection by AD’ Design Studio, which is included below. The other operators appear alphabetically.

How the services were selected

The profiles bring together purchasing on a client’s behalf, furniture supply and wider project coordination. These can be different appointments even when their websites use the word ‘procurement’. The selection includes AD’ Design Studio and seven other operators, with the other names listed alphabetically.

Start with what you need: purchasing an approved selection, developing a furnishing scheme, or supplying and coordinating a complete package. Each profile identifies published information and questions to resolve in a proposal. It is a comparison of services to investigate for your home, not a ranking of their performance.

AD’ Design Studio: a purchasing appointment on your behalf

AD’ works from your designer’s selection, an existing quotation or a furnishing brief developed with you. Its Furnishing & Procurement appointment sources and purchases in Italy on your behalf. The studio checks dimensions, configurations and technical details with suppliers and your appointed team. Available trade terms are shown alongside AD’s fee.

For a single approved piece, bring the exact model, configuration and destination. For a room, include its plan, the pieces to retain and the selection still to resolve. Those are different amounts of design work: the proposal should identify whether AD’ is checking an existing choice or developing the furnishing scheme with you.

Compare the quoted furniture price and studio fee with the agreed additional costs needed at the destination. Packing, transport, insurance, applicable taxes or import charges, assembly and installation may be included, separately quoted or still open. Identify who undertakes each part and avoid counting included charges twice. Until the unresolved amounts are confirmed, the proposal remains a comparison with stated assumptions.

The appointment defines the selection, purchasing arrangements and work AD’ will do. It does not establish a universal discount, fee or delivery period for every manufacturer and country.

Esperiri: multibrand furniture supply

Esperiri describes a multibrand supply service for private clients and architects. Its published offer covers standard collections and bespoke pieces, with technical support, warehouse consolidation and international transport. On-site installation is also described. Request the name of the contracting seller and the scope of design support. Ask for delivery and installation costs for your destination.

Interni: furniture, design and international coordination

Interni’s services bring multibrand furniture retail and home interior design together. Its International Concierge describes coordination with suppliers, carriers and installation teams. The company also offers general contracting. Interni’s services.

Italian Solutions describes a multibrand supply service covering living, dining, bedrooms, outdoor furniture, rugs and decorative lighting. It lists private residences among its project types and describes working with clients and their designers from furniture selection to delivery and installation. Italian Solutions’ procurement and supply service.

Ask who will supply the furniture, what the proposal covers and how purchasing, transport and installation are charged for your property. Establish whether you need help developing the selection or only ordering pieces already approved.

LOHD Italian Interiors: Italian furnishings in Asia

LOHD presents Italian furniture, lighting, decorative pieces and materials for clients in Asia, with brands shown on its website. The homepage introduces the product offer without setting out a complete purchasing, delivery or installation appointment. LOHD Italian Interiors.

Its sourcing categories include kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes, furniture, lighting, flooring and wall coverings. The service combines technical and design consultancy, material research and samples, budgeting, scheduling and logistics. A testimonial published on its site describes bespoke furniture, lighting and timber flooring for a private villa in Los Angeles. Ponteveneto’s procurement service.

For a private home, ask which packages it will undertake. Request the contracting parties, charges, order approvals and delivery or installation responsibilities in your proposal.

Spazio Schiatti: direct furniture sales from Italy

Spazio Schiatti sells Italian furnishings from multiple brands and offers advice for private homes. Its published services include customisation, online design support and delivery in Italy and abroad. It also describes after-sales assistance. Spazio Schiatti’s furnishing services.

Confirm how advice and delivery are charged. Ask whether installation at your destination is offered and included.

Triade Group: procurement within wider project services

Triade describes furniture procurement alongside interior design, architecture and project management, with branded and custom-made furniture. Its website also presents logistics, transport, furniture assembly and fit-out as separate services. Triade’s Italian furniture procurement service.

Request the scope and price of each service you intend to use. Ask who contracts with the manufacturers and who coordinates design changes, supplier information and the team at the destination.

Compare the same package

Begin with the work you need the operator to do. An approved sofa calls for a precise quotation, order and route into the home. An unfurnished living room may also need a composition of seats, tables, lighting and materials. A made-to-measure stone or joinery element needs drawings and development with the maker before there is a complete piece to price.

For the living room, look beyond the number of products supplied. Who will place the sofa and chairs on the plan, test the route through the room and resolve upholstery beside the floor and curtains? If your designer has already done that work, identify the selection the purchasing operator will follow. If it remains open, include it in the appointment you compare.

A bespoke element asks another question: who develops its shape, fittings and connections, and who carries the agreed detail into fabrication? The basin case below illustrates why that design work and the purchase belong together for a custom piece. A loose furniture order can require a narrower appointment.

Give the operators the same selection, scope and destination. Where a service page leaves a detail open, resolve it in the proposal:

What to compareAsk in the proposal
Selection and configurationThe same manufacturer, model, size, finish and quantity for each quotation.
Design support and samplesWho develops the specifications, checks dimensions and interfaces, and arranges sample approval?
Fee and trading termsHow is the operator paid? Identify design or purchasing fees, product-selling terms and any available trade terms.
Quoted and estimated costsIdentify quoted product prices, confirmed additional costs and estimates. What information is still needed to confirm the remaining costs?
Contracts and approvalsWho contracts with the suppliers, who approves the final specification, and who authorises orders?
Transport and work at destinationWhich shipping, customs, insurance and installation costs are included, and who arranges each?

A bespoke piece within the wider interior

At Sikder Haus in Dhaka, AD’ designed and commissioned a basin carved from solid Portoro marble for the dining area. The Portoro basin case follows the workshop, packing and installed position. The piece belonged to the wider interior appointment at Sikder Haus.

For custom pieces, agree who develops the details with the maker and what needs your approval before production.
