AD’ / Bespoke Italian furniture

Bespoke Italian furniture for your interior

A piece designed for your room, developed through drawings, material choices and close work with its maker.

Discuss a bespoke furniture commission

AD’ Design Studio designs individual pieces and integrated joinery, developing the idea with you and the appointed maker. A commission can start with a sketch, your designer’s drawing or a particular need for a room. AD’ brings the form, dimensions, materials and construction details into a design you can discuss with the maker and approve.

Designed around the room and its use

For a cabinet, the brief might begin with what it needs to hold and how those objects should be seen. For a table, it includes the seats around it and the space available when people sit down.

AD’ develops the proportions alongside the surrounding furniture and the room itself. The edge of a stone top, the position of a handle or the meeting of timber and glass becomes part of that work. These details are considered while the design is developing, with your preferences carried into the drawings and material choices.

Drawings to discuss, samples to handle

AD’ prepares the agreed design drawings and specifications, then coordinates the questions that arise with the maker and your appointed team. Dimensions, finishes, fittings and the points where the piece meets the room are brought into the review.

Material and finish samples let you see colour and texture before approving a selection. The maker’s shop drawings set out the proposed construction. AD’ reviews these within the agreed scope, recording the decisions needed before the next stage. The proposal identifies which samples, drawing reviews and production reviews form part of the commission.

Portoro and a chess table at Sikder Haus

At Sikder Haus in Dhaka, AD’ designed and commissioned a basin carved from solid Portoro marble for the dining area. The sculpted basin was paired with Fantini fittings beside the dining setting.

The Portoro basin case follows the piece from the workshop to its installed position, showing the stone form and its relationship with the fittings.

AD’ also designed a bespoke chess table for Sikder Haus, conceived as a place to sit and play within the furnished interior.

A commission with clear responsibilities

The appointment can cover one piece, built-in furniture or a coordinated group of bespoke objects. Your proposal sets out the design work, drawings, specifications, reviews and fees. Design approvals are agreed with you; the appointed maker is responsible for fabrication.

If your design is already approved and you need the piece sourced and purchased, Furnishing & Procurement provides the purchasing route. Procurement can also accompany a design commission, with supplier contracts, transport and installation responsibilities defined before orders are placed.

Questions about your commission

Can AD’ develop a drawing prepared by another designer?

Yes. AD’ can work with your designer to establish which details need development, what information the maker requires and who will approve the design.

Can the appointment cover a single piece?

Yes. One table, basin, cabinet or other defined interior piece can be the starting point. The proposal reflects the design and coordination that piece requires.
