AD’ / Interior design on Lake Como

Interior design for your home on Lake Como

Private living and entertaining, brought together through room planning, materials and bespoke details.

A complete private interior — Phnom Penh, Cambodia

For a private villa in Phnom Penh, AD’ developed the interior architecture, materials and bespoke furniture around entertaining and more private pursuits. The main salon and dining room sit within a wider programme that includes a wine room, cinema and private wellness spaces.

In the dining room, a bar wall brings stone panels, brass-finished steel shelving and integrated lighting into the surrounding architecture. Its drawings develop the junctions between those materials. This is villa interior design at the scale of the whole home and of the pieces made for it.

Plan the villa around the life you want there

Your home on Lake Como might be a main residence, a place for weekends or where family and friends gather for longer stays. We begin with how you want to use the house, which rooms you need and what you want to retain.

A dining room for a full house, somewhere quiet to read and private rooms away from the shared spaces need to work together. We develop their relationships in the layout, considering how you move through the home and how guests use it.

Where rooms open towards the lake or a terrace, seating positions, a place to dine and routes through the house are considered with the view and the glazing. We look at which spaces should connect and where you want more privacy.

The brief may include a library, wine room, cinema or wellness space. Each has its own requirements; its position within the villa and its relationship with the living rooms are part of the design.

At KOI Villa in Phuket, Thailand, AD’s residential interior design connects living, dining and bedroom settings with terraces, the pool and the landscape. This different residential setting brings the relationship between inside and outside into the work.

Develop the rooms and their furnishings together

The furniture you already own and the pieces you want to keep help shape the brief. New selections and bespoke work develop with the room: a cabinet with the wall around it, a table with the seating it needs, stone and lighting with the details in which they meet.

AD’ develops layouts, materials, lighting, furniture and interior details together. Drawings, specifications and sample reviews give you a way to assess the proposal before approving the work included in your appointment.

If the interior design is already established, Furnishing & Procurement can provide a separate appointment for a defined furnishing package. For a new or substantially reconsidered interior, the design begins with the villa as a whole.

A defined role alongside your architect

With Interior Architecture & Design, AD’ develops the agreed interior spaces and coordinates the drawings and details with your architect, engineers and relevant specialists. Before starting, we agree which interior drawings AD’ develops and which building and specialist information your appointed team supplies.

The proposal sets out the rooms, design stages, drawings and specifications, along with the visits and reviews required. Responsibilities for technical development, approvals, purchasing and installation are agreed around the commission.

You can appoint AD’ directly or work through your family office or representative, with the brief and approval responsibilities established at the outset.

Before we begin

Questions about your Lake Como home

Can AD’ develop the interiors of the whole villa?

Yes. We can develop the agreed rooms as one interior design commission, bringing layouts, materials, lighting, furniture and bespoke details together. The proposal defines the extent of the work and its coordination with your appointed team.

Can we appoint AD’ if our architect is already working on the property?

Yes. We discuss the design stage and the work your architect and specialists are developing, then define AD’s role in the interiors. The team’s responsibilities and the information needed at each stage are agreed before work begins.

Can the design include a wine room, cinema or private wellness space?

Yes, when these form part of your brief. AD’s private villa project in Phnom Penh includes these settings. We develop their place within your home and coordinate the technical requirements with the relevant specialists.

Can we retain existing furniture or appoint AD’ for furnishing only?

Yes. Tell us which pieces you want to keep. We can develop the design around them, or discuss a separate Furnishing & Procurement appointment where the interior and furnishing brief are already defined.

What do you need to begin?

Tell us where the property is, its current stage, the rooms you want to develop and how you intend to use the home. Let us know who is already involved. Plans and photographs can follow by email.
